
On the eastern slope of the famous Mayon volcano in Albay lies the small town of Bacacay with 143 km of irregular coastline of mostly fine, black, volcanic sand beaches. Approximately two km outside of Sto. Domingo town and 15 km north-east of Legaspi, is a long, black, lava-sand beach which occasionally has a high surf. The rare black sand beaches along the Sto. Domingo coastline is created from the natural erosion of volcanic rock which evolved from ground lava. The sunrise and moonrise are both very beautiful to watch on this beach. Pulang Daga Beach, which is situated in Paracale is a two hour bus ride from Daet and is an ideal place for picnics and swimming. The beach got it's name “Pulang Daga” from it's unique clay-like soil and red sand characteristic.
Everything is virtually untouched, undepleted and unpolluted in Pulang Daga. The crystal clear waters with it's panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean is perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming. During low tide, the waters are shallow enough for visitors to walk from reef to reef.
There are no known commercial resorts in the area but there are villas available for rent.

About 3 km from Daet, Bagasbas Beach is a fine, gray sand beach that is said to be the best in the area, and is very popular with the locals. The waves are really good for surfing specially around the month of August. The surf here breaks left and right on a sand bar, with swells reaching 3-6 feet, with the highest of which can reach up to eight feet. There is no commercial beach resort in the area that I know of, but there are plenty of restaurants and surf shops near the beach. Hotels are also available and are located in Vinzons Ave.

Babuyan Islands, Cagayan, Philippines

The Babuyan Islands is made up of five major islands, the Babuyan island, Calayan, Camiguin, Dalupiri, and Fuga. Note that the Camiguin island here is different from the island-province of Camiguin in Mindanao.
There is no electricity and no private resorts in these islands. Accommodations are provided for by the hospitable local officials in the form of cottages which can be rented for a nominal fee per night. The cottages have a communal bathroom with tap water and electricity both powered by a generator. There are no daily ferry trips here either.
Fuga island is said to be the most beautiful of the Babuyan Islands. It is a long island with a never ending stretch of white sand and coral beaches. Camiguin, Pamuktan, Calayan are also great beach destinations in Babuyan Islands.
